Reflection #13 – May 2022

Time goes by and then I realise I haven’t posted a reflection or an update for a while – so here is a short update and reflection on what I have called ‘The Foundations of Discipleship’. If I get a chance over the next couple of weeks, I want to record a short video about each of the four foundations that I identify, in broad terms, as:

  • Slowing down and making space
  • Living our identity ‘in Christ’
  • Putting on the mind of Christ
  • Keeping in step with the Spirit

I think each one deserves a separate video to unpack and provide more detail – before I then, hopefully, can apply then to specific discipleship practices, the first of which will be the practice of prayer.

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful – please leave a comment and/ or ask a question if you want to start a dialogue with us.

Reflection #12 – March 2022

Here is a short reflection about the Russian invasion of Ukraine – expressing my heart-break for both sides, Ukrainian and Russian families, who will see their children killed in what seems, from the comfort of my UK home, to be a totally unnecessary conflict.

I never thought there would be war again in Europe so soon after World War II – what short memories we seem to have of the destruction and desolation that war brings to everything and everyone involved.

We need to pray for wisdom and hope for a quick resolution.

New Year 2022

Goodbye to 2021 and hello to 2022.

Happy New Year to you all.

I hope you had a blessed and peaceful Christmas – or, at the very least, one that was not filled with pain, suffering or heartache.

Below is a short video I recorded earlier this week – and I hope to post another video soon, maybe, reflecting on 2021 in a little more depth – and looking forward to the new possibilities that 2022 opens up for us.

Watch this space – and please comment or interact with us – we would love to hear from you in 2022.

Reflection #8

Here is our latest video, with me and John reflecting on our recent short series of talks about Values – and discussing how Jesus’ washing of his disciples’ feet – as recounted in John 13 – is a great example of all the four Values, namely, community (rather than fellowship), incarnated, generosity and service.

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful – please leave a comment and/ or ask a question if you want to start a dialogue with us.

Reflection #7

There is a lot in the news at the moment about the dishonesty, corruption and lack of integrity of our politicians and national leaders – and what appears to be the increasing apathy in our culture to do anything about it.

A growing number of people (frighteningly) seem to be comfortable with politicians telling lies and being openly corrupt….or, at least, certain politicians, apparently!

But what should our response be as followers of Jesus?

Here is my latest short video reflecting on the effect of dishonesty and corruption – and what I think our response should be as a community of believers in Christ….

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful – please leave a comment and/ or ask a question if you want to start a dialogue with us.

Reflection #6

Well, we’ve got content coming thick and fast this week….

Here is another reflection, the first one produced by John, whilst he walks his dog, Daisy, in which he considers how God uses coincidences, and about living a life of goodness that leaves a legacy of blessing….

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful – please leave a comment and/ or ask a question if you want to start a dialogue with us.

Reflection #5

Here is my latest reflection – made whilst walking my dog, Bo, through the woods near my home in Northumberland – about living in the moment and being contented with what I have in the here and now…

I must admit I’m not the greatest video editor – so it’s a bit ‘clunky’ in parts – but does that make me more ‘authentic’? 😉

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful – please leave a comment and/ or ask a question if you want to start a dialogue with us.
